Hiring Maid
In order to hire a maid, certain requirements are needed according to the Immigration Department of Malaysia. Below are the basic requirements:
- Employer must be married.
- Employer which marital status is single or divorced are allow as long as the employer is a female.
- Expatriates and Permanent Residents are allowed.
- Income perhousehold must have a minimum income of RM36,000.00 per year.
- Reasons are required such as taking care of children below 15 years old, taking care of elderly or taking care of those that need medical attention.
Hiring of second maid must have a minimum income of RM120,000.00 which is subject to the Immigration Department of Malaysia approval.

Employment Contract
Every newly hired maid will have a minimum of 2 years contract. This contract is to protect the rights of the employer and the maid.
Employment contract is also require for re-entry back to Malaysia if the maid went for a holiday at their country. Renewing of passport also require a valid
employment contract. Every employment contract will have a maximum of 2 years contract.
Abscond Maid
Employer must make a police report in order to cancel the work permit of your absconded maid.
This is to protect the employer during which the maid absconded is not under the employer responsibility. You need to pay a compound depending on the nationality to the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
Your maid consider abscond if she:
- Runaway from your house.
- She did not come back to work after went back for a holiday at their respective country.
- You did not cancel their work permit by doing the Check Out Memo (COM).
Special Pass (Permit expiry extension)
This pass is needed if the permit has been expired. However, the employer must provide a valid reasons together with the supporting document
to the Immigration Department of Malaysia. This pass is only valid for a month. Any further extension is subject to the Immigration Department of Malaysia approval.
Fomema (Medical Examination)
Medical examination is required for those maid which has work for less than 3 years. Medical examination is not required if the maid has been working for 4 years and above.
This medical examination will be monitor by the Fomema. This medical examination is require for renewal of working permit.
Repatriate
Check Out Memo (COM) is require in order to cancel the maid permit if she do not wish to continue working with the employer. You need to provide the air ticket as a supporting
document to the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
Holiday
